Test Engineer (Philips Grooming & Beauty)

In this role, you have the opportunity to make a great contribution to the verification of innovative products. You take ownership of the execution of verification activities, maintaining the test area and test equipment, and supporting the development of test methods. You will significantly contribute to the verification of innovative consumer products.

You are responsible for:

  1. Performing test and verification activities as defined by instruction.
  2. Technical and administrative management of the test area.
  3. Management and maintenance of lab equipment including calibrations.
  4. Establishing, executing, reviewing, and evaluating laboratory procedures and policies.
  5. Maintaining laboratory records, reports, and files.
  6. Maintaining laboratory stocks and ordering supplies.
  7. Ensuring health and safety policies are maintained and followed.
  8. Ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and standards.
  9. Providing onboarding and technical training.
  10. Assisting other team members with duties.
  11. Participating and assisting in internal/external audits.

You are a part of:

You will join the Test and Verification Team, a group within the Research and Development Department of the Grooming and Beauty Business Unit – located in Drachten. The group consists of 20+ people, highly skilled, flexible, dynamic, and multi-cultural. You will support the verification of newly developed Philips products and work closely with T&V Architects and Test Method Development Engineers.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  1. Technical background, preferably electrical, mechatronics, physics, or a comparable subject.
  2. Vocational (MBO4) degree or Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field.
  3. 3+ years of experience working in a test laboratory.
  4. Good computer skills to navigate applications, read digital work instructions, and sign test and work records.
  5. Knowledge and experience of Health and Safety regulations.
  6. Skilled in balancing multiple job duties and priorities in a busy work environment; able to perform and complete assigned tasks to meet laboratory needs.
  7. Very good communication and teamwork skills.
  8. Fluent written and verbal English skills as this is the primary language in the office.
  9. Experience in Windchill is an advantage.
  10. Understanding of the development process and testing of medical devices (ISO 13485, 21CFR820) is an advantage.
  11. Strong problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring skills.
  12. Responds effectively to unpredictable or unexpected events, treating unexpected circumstances as opportunities to learn and adopt new techniques.
  13. Strong sense of ownership, passionate, fast learner.
  14. Approx. 20% travel (mainly within NL) is required within the first year of employment; after it will decrease to approx. 5-10%.
